Mother’s wrath! Mother giraffe fought fiercely to defeat the aggressive lions to rescue his child but failed

With their huge body and high nutritional content, giraffes often face predators such as lions, wild dogs or hyenas.

To deal with these predators, giraffes often run away if given the opportunity or else will use their long, strong front legs to attack.

A pride of 6 lions surround a reticulated giraffe and her calf. The mother desperately tries to fight off the lions.

The mother keeps her calf as close to her as possible and uses her powerful legs to try and kick the lions away.

For a while, she manages to keep them at a safe distance until one lioness goes behind her back and out of her sight.

The lioness pounces on the giraffe mothers back and claws her way up towards her neck. The shock causes the mother giraffe to have to run to try and get the lioness off.

As the mother runs the baby giraffe is left unattended and is now easy prey for one of the lions as the other lions join the chase for the mother giraffe.

A tragic end for the baby giraffe when it was born not long ago. This is the law of nature, small and weak animals will be eaten by strong animals.
